Personally, I have never had a piece of open source software compile
successfully with the IBM compilers.  ;)  But, after several spectacular
failures, I pretty much wrote it off as evil-in-a-CD-case and went on
with my life.  I guess I have managed one or two compiles, but I recall
nothing was easy.

You are more than welcome to send me whatever you like - I'll test and
report back.  As I said, I cannot install real compilers, but I can
certainly test anything you send my way.  Feel free to send it directly
to me, so as not to clutter the list.
