This looks interesting and I wrote some tests to try this out, but I  
don't appear to be getting the right results. Could have a look at it?

The tests are in plugins/t/negate.pl. To run them you have to run:

   cd plugins
   NPTEST_DEBUG=1 perl t/negate.pl

Have I misunderstood how your options are meant to be used?
