That should belong to Gnulib. If I apply it to Nagios-plugins it'll get
reverted on the next Gnulib sync. If you manage to get it in Gnulib and
want us to sync it for the next release we'll do.

Additionally, autoconf shouldn't be needed when building daily snapshots
and releases. It's only needed when you get the source from Subversion.
