Just for the record: we haven't modified libtap beyond fixing compile  
problems on certain platforms; we include libtap for convenience; it  
is only required for tests; you can ignore libtap and other tests will  
still work.

We won't be linking to any external libtap, because this situation  
doesn't require it (there's bigger fish for us to fry!). However, you  
can provide an autoconf patch if you wish.
