[Nagiosplug-devel] check_icmp & TTL expired in transit behaviour

 Hi list,

 I'm using check_icmp (http://nagiosplugins.org/man/check_icmp) as host
command to determine a host is up and running or not.
I think it would be handy to add a feature which would allow you to
return an unreachable state when "TTL expires in transit" while pinging
 that host.
The motivation for such an option is the following:

In Nagios, all parent child relationships are defined correctly.
A router can be pinged, but has a faulty route configured which makes
the TTL of all traffic going through it drop to 0 (routing loop)
 resulting into a "TTL
expired in transit" for all hosts behind it.

As a result, despite correct parent child relationships, Nagios will
send out a host down notification for all those hosts.

 What are your thoughts?

 Cheers,
