The --help option should be enough. There should also be a docs 
directory in the distribution where plugin authors can add their own 
txt/docbook/xml/html/man documentations (each type with its own subdir, 
ofcourse) if they like, but that should be highly optional and only 
required for plugins with very complex options (check_http would be a 
nice candidate for a man-page, for instance).
