I've been aware of it - in fact, it is why 1.3.0 uses the old check_udp,
rather than the symlink to check_tcp.

It will be fixed before there's a 1.4 release, or we'll continue to use
the older code.

But it's not your imagination, the problem is really there. (Patches
galdly accepted).
