[Nagiosplug-help] check_traffic - please help

Hello all..
 
was wondering if someone could help me with a problem, 
I am trying to install check_traffic, i have followed the instructions,
when i run the make-config command i get the following:
 
[root at mybox check_traffic]# ./make-config
Timeout: No Response from localhost
Number of Interfaces found: 0

if I do a ifconfig:
[root at mybox check_traffic]# ifconfig

I dont know where to turn or where to go from here, any help will be
greatly appreciated
