[Nagiosplug-help] nrpe arguments -- special characters

I am trying to pass special characters in arguments via check_nrpe to
an nrpe_nt server:

/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H 10.0.1.127 -c get_service_auth
-a 10.0.1.5 msdtc 'jomama' 'foo!bar'

This isn't working.  The shell doesn't like it when I use double
quotes and nrpe doesnt pass the ! when I use single quotes.

Any ideas?
