Does the snapshot is an experimental release?

The snapshots are like the release version, where you have to configure,
make and install.

If you already build the nagios-plugins from source, you can just build
the snapshot the same way. Otherwise I suggest you just build it and
overwrite your distro's check_http with the one in "plugins/check_http"
(make a back-up in case you have any issue with the new one).
