Thanks for the clarification. I have another question. Would I have to
install the check_tcp plugin on the remote machine as well?

  Thanks again

  Leo

It works the same as any other plugin.

Basically the "check_telnet" that is defined by default is: check_tcp -H
$HOSTADDRESS$ -p 23 , so it is just an alias for check_tcp.In my case, this
definition was already included in checkcommands.cfg, so I just put an entry
in my services.cfg with "check_command check_telnet" in it. There are no
extra settings you have to pass to it.

Thanks for your help. I was wondering if you could tell me how to use
the check_telnet plugin.

    Thanks

TN3270/5570 uses the telnet port by default (AFAIK), you can just use
check_telnet. I use it to check our AS400, (users connect with a 5250
emulator) and it works fine.

To do more than just check if the service is running, you would probably
need to write your own check, making use of the tn3270 program.

    Regards,

    Grant

      HI,

I just wanted to know if anyone knew of any TN3270 of TN5570 emulation
plugin that I could use.

      Thanks

      Leo
