[Nagiosplug-help] socket time out error

Hello,

Can anyone help me with the following problem? I installed nrpe and 
nagios plugins on several machines but on one of them it doesn't seem to 
be working.
When I use the follwoing command on the nagiosserver 
/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nrpe -H hostname -c check_load

I get:
CHECK_NRPE: Socket timeout after 10 seconds.

Does anyone know what can cause this?
