[Nagiosplug-help] check_db help with usage

...I need some help with the syntax for check_db plugin I have searched
 the messages and can't find anything of help. I am trying to excute
 a query on a database  (oracle)

i get 'No match found for regular expression:'

is there anyone that can give me examples of how to use this function.
