[Nagiosplug-help] check_nagios could not locate a running nagios process

# ./check_nagios -e 
5 -F /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log -C /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios
NAGIOS CRITICAL: Could not locate a running Nagios process!


I get this error running it as root and as nagios.

The permissions on the files as well as the folders are all correct.

This is on solaris 5.6 (and I have the same results on solaris 5.7 and 5.8)

any help would be appreciated.

This is using the nagios-plugins-HEAD-200608171152 build.
