[Nagiosplug-help] Check_oracle plugin failing

I can run the check_oracle plugin as user nagios but when I run it with
nrpe I get Cannot determine ORACLE_HOME for sid 172.20.n.n 

 

I added these lines to the script to no avail

 

ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle/oracle; export ORACLE_BASE

ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/10.2.0/db_2; export ORACLE_HOME

PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH; export PATH

 

What am I doing wrong

Is there anyway to get nrpe to log? I don't see any errors in
/var/log/messages
