[Nagiosplug-help] quick question

Do Nagios have to be runing as an application to be able to access the web
through htaccess?

Also, when I do the verify command of my config files, I get "***> One or
more problems was encountered while processing the config files..."
But have no idea where to start looking, followed the documentation with
configs, all compiles went through without any problems etc.
Any ideas on where to start looking? What might cause this error?
