[Nagiosplug-help] check_http issue with SSLv3

Does anyone know why check_http might fail with the following when using 
SSLv3?

|CRITICAL - Cannot make SSL connection
31691:error:1407742E:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:tlsv1 alert 
protocol version:s23_clnt.c:583:
HTTP CRITICAL - Error on receive
|
The server is set to accept SSL3 RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5 only.

Plugins are version 1.4.15, on CentOS 5, compiled from source.
